Mail. Ru Group has launched its own voice assistant "Marusya" in test mode. According to TASS, citing company representatives, the program is still in test mode: to download, you must sign up through the form on the official website.
For the first time, representatives of Mail. Ru Group unofficially announced the start of work on a voice assistant back in November last year. At that time, nothing was known about the project, except for the working name and further plans of the company to create its own smart speaker with support for a voice assistant.
Now Mail. Ru has launched a voice assistant (or assistant: the project has kept the working name "Marusya") for beta testing. In addition to the basic skills of a voice assistant (search queries, weather information), "Marusya" is able to turn on music (for example, through "Vkontakte") and answer some basic questions.
According to company representatives, Marusya will soon be integrated into third-party services and its own projects: for example, they are going to teach it to read news from the Mail. Ru News service and order food from the Delivery Club.
The program can be downloaded through the AppStore and Google Play, and for access you will have to sign up through the form on the official website or receive an invitation from those who are already using the application. Also, access to "Marusa" can be obtained by third-party developers who have the opportunity to offer their improvements through a special form on the site.
From the editor
At the time of this writing, we have sent a request for testing "Marusya", but have not yet received access: as reported in the response letter to confirm the email, there are a lot of applications, and not everyone can test the voice assistant on the first day.
Another Russian voice assistant, Alisa from Yandex, was introduced in October 2017. You can read more about his work in our interview with the developers "Alice, say something".
