THeMIS with combat module ADDER
The Estonian company Milrem showed a new robotic tracked platform THeMIS (Tracked Hybrid Modular Infantry System, tracked hybrid modular infantry system). According to the company, the multifunctional robot is designed to support soldiers on the battlefield and even replace them when performing dangerous tasks.
Together with the Singapore company ST Kinetics, the Estonian Milrem has developed an armed version of THeMIS - THeMIS ADDER. On the tracked robotic platform, the developers mounted the RWS ADDER remotely controlled combat module, created by a Singapore company. The combat module includes a 12.7 mm machine gun and an electro-optical surveillance system.
The tracked robot is capable of speeds up to 25-35 kilometers per hour and carries a payload weighing up to 750 kilograms. In this case, the total weight of the robot itself, depending on the version, ranges from 750 to 850 kilograms. The autonomy of the robot is up to ten hours. THeMIS consists of two tracked units with electric motors, connected by a flat platform.
A diesel engine coupled with a generator is responsible for providing all robot systems with electricity. The engine with the generator is located in a special niche of the left tracked unit, and the battery is located in the niche of the right one. These nodes are covered with light armor. The robot can work in three modes: remotely controlled, follow the fighter and autonomous.
The THeMIS can be equipped with various payloads: a unit with a manipulator for examining suspicious objects and demining, a combat module, a medical evacuation unit, mounts for provisions and ammunition, or reconnaissance systems.
The THeMIS control system allows you to organize a group of several robots with centralized control. In a group, robotic tracked platforms can also operate in different modes, including fully autonomous.
