The Israeli Defense Ministry has begun testing an engineering vehicle based on the Namer heavy tracked armored personnel carrier. The video recording of the tests was published by the Defense News portal. In the recording, the Namer is used to guide a mobile bridge over a trench. Details about the engineering version of the car were not specified.

At the end of January this year, the Namer armored personnel carriers began to install the Trophy active protection system, called by the military "Windbreaker". The first vehicle with such a system has already passed a series of tests, after which the Israeli Ministry of Defense may decide to serially install the system on all new Namer armored personnel carriers.

Namer armored personnel carriers entered service with Israel in 2008. They are designed on the chassis of the Merkava main battle tank. The machine weighing 60 tons can reach speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour, and its range is 500 kilometers. The armored personnel carrier is designed to carry nine troops.

The Namer is armed with a 7.62mm machine gun, a 60mm mortar and grenade launchers with smoke screens.
